The Library's collection consists of more than 1,500 medical books, at least 50 percent of which focus on pediatrics and childhood diseases. They may be checked out for 28 days and are arranged on the shelf according to the National Library of Medicine classification system. There is also a small reference collection which includes key sources, such as dictionaries, directories, and the most current editions of major core clinical textbooks (such as the Nelson Textbook of Pediatrics). Reference materials may not be checked out.

To serve the needs of all hospital and medical staff, the Library will borrow material which it does not own from other libraries. Whether it is a copy of an article or an entire book, we can usually get it for you.
Family Resource Center
Housed in the Medical Library, the Family Resource Center (FRC) provides hospital patients, their families and staff with access to a wide variety of Consumer Health information about child health and well-being. The FRC collection includes books, periodicals, pamphlets, and videotapes on a variety of topics from coping with chronic illness and hospitalization to parenting skills and child development. The Resource Center also maintains a collection of children’s books, crayons and games for recreational use. Families can also access the internet for consumer health information.
The Resource Center has provided a computer and printer with suggested bookmarks for easy access to information. These bookmarks are further broken down into categories by diagnosis and serve Spanish and Hmong speaking families.
