California State Assembly Member Danny Gilmore visited Children’s Hospital Central California to tour the pediatric medical campus and meet with Children’s President and Chief Executive Officer, William F. Haug.
"Families in Central California are very fortunate in having a state-of-the-art pediatric specialty hospital like Children's Hospital right in our own back yard, providing exceptional care to our region's sickest children,” said Gilmore.
Beverly Hayden-Pugh, Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer, led the tour on May 1 for the Assembly member and his wife, Cindi Gilmore. They visited the Emergency Department, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), capped off with a walk through Children’s Hospital’s new private NICU rooms.
“We are the first hospital in California to have private NICU rooms,” said Hayden-Pugh. “The staff here does amazing work.”
The Hospital’s 104-bed NICU includes 21 private and two semi-private rooms. These individual rooms allow parents to remain at their baby’s bedside throughout their stay, strengthening the bond between parent and child.
Following the tour, Gilmore and Haug discussed state issues pertaining to the Hospital.
Gilmore represents the 30th Assembly District, spanning Fresno and Kern counties, and all of Kings County. An active member of the State Assembly, he serves on several committees, including the Committee on Natural Resources, the Committee on Budget, the Committee on Public Safety and the Committee on Veterans’ Affairs.
