Operation Fuzzy Feet Underway

1/9/2009

Enterprise Rent-A-Car’s “Operation Fuzzy Feet” brought the comfort of home to patients at Children’s Hospital Central California.Mother places slippers on kid's feet

Enterprise employees pulled red wagons full of slippers through the halls of Children’s Hospital and passed them out in patient rooms. In all, more than 700 donated slippers will be distributed to kids throughout the year.

Now in its sixth year, “Operation Fuzzy Feet” was the inspiration of 10-year-old Fresno native Brooklyn Espinoza and her family.  She was a patient at Children’s Hospital when she and her family noticed kids didn’t have nice, cozy slippers. Her mother, an Enterprise employee, pitched the idea to her managers and it’s been growing ever since. Brooklyn passed away in Nov. 2008. “Operation Fuzzy Feet” continues in her honor.

“It’s nice to be able to see the reaction of the kids,” said Brett Todd, regional vice president of Enterprise Rent-A-Car. “I’ve been doing this since 2003 and I look forward to it.”

Employees and customers donated new slippers at more than 100 Enterprise Rent-A-Car offices from Chico to Bakersfield. Posters honoring Brooklyn’s legacy were featured at rental car locations to promote the slipper drive, commemorate her life and to recognize the strength and determination of hospitalized children.
