The fall installation of the Start! Walking Program
at Children’s Hospital Central California is now underway. This national program from the American Heart Association
challenges people to increase their activity through walking.
The Hospital’s Employee Health and Wellness Department held a kick-off rally in the Donor Recognition Area. Following the rally, Children’s employees walked one mile around the hospital campus and gathered on the south lawn for water and snacks.
Program features include:
- weekly prizes
- department challenges
- prizes for the top 3 walkers
- prizes for the top 3 cyclists
Walking paths have been set up inside and outside of the hospital.
Children’s employees logged 12,900 walking and 14,600 cycling miles during the spring program, which ran April 11 – June 6. The goal is to reach 50,000 combined walking/cycling miles by Nov. 17.
