Central Valley residents banded together with a common cause to help the patients at Children’s Hospital Central California and raised $362,470 during the 10th annual Radiothon and Change Bandit program.
“This is just outstanding,” said James Meinert, vice president, Children’s Hospital Foundation. “Beyond the money, it shows the widespread commitment of the community to support Children’s Hospital and the outstanding medical care we provide to our patients.”
During Radiothon, on-air personalities from 93.7 FM KISS Country encouraged listeners to phone in donations, while Change Bandits dropped off bags of cash at Children’s Hospital. The largest donation during the 3-day event was $100,000 from the Tachi Palace Hotel & Casino in Lemoore. Tachi held several events over the summer benefiting Children's Hospital and used their $100,000 donation to encourage others to call in to the Radiothon.
The event was capped off with the Bandit Bash concert featuring Mark Chesnutt. Several thousand Change Bandits traded their bags for tickets to the event at the Clovis Rodeo Grounds.
