Color The Skies will host a Kite Show and the Rise.Shine.Give.RUN on Saturday, August 31 at Mistlin Sports Park in Ripon. The hot air balloon festival is scaled back this year to accommodate park construction but will continue bigger and better than ever in 2014.
Two hot air balloons will be on display at 6:30 a.m. before runners take their mark. New this year, runners have a 10K option extending their run farther down Mello Avenue. The 5K and 10K will start at 8 a.m. As tradition goes, the Children's F un Run (1/4 mile) will begin at 9:30 a.m., with the awards presentation to follow. Gold, Silver and Bronze medals will be given in each age category of 5K and 10K runs. Kids in the Children's Fun Run will also receive a medal. Cash prizes will be given to the male and female overall winners in the 5K and 10K.
The kite show will entertain guests all afternoon. Attendees are encouraged to bring kites, blankets, chairs, friends and family to make this day one to remember.
Kite flying enthusiasts will enjoy the colorful shapes and sizes of all styles of kites and inflatables. The kids will love the candy drops and participate in kite races. Kites will be on hand for purchase and technique assistance will be available by expert flyers. Frisbees, footballs, jump ropes and Color The Skies merchandise will also be available for purchase.
