5/18/2009

The 5th annual Children’s Hospital Central California Golf Tournament presented by Taco Bell and ABC 30 on May 8 raised a record $85,000 to support the incredible medical care the Hospital provides.

“We are grateful for the community’s giving spirit,” said James Meinert, Vice President, Children’s Hospital Foundation. “It shows their commitment to the patients and families served by Children’s Hospital.”

More than 160 golf enthusiasts traveled to Stevinson Ranch Golf Club to have fun while giving to the Central Valley’s premier pediatric medical center. Participants played a full day of golf, had lunch and dinner and received goodie bags. Cancer survivors and former Children’s Hospital patients Raymond Parra and Chase Kizirian were on hand to talk with golfers, hit some balls and help with the raffle.

Attractive prizes were up for grabs during the raffle and live auction. A Lexus Champions for Charity Golf Tournament, this year’s auction featured a one-of-a-kind trip for two to play in the Lexus Champions for Charity National Championship at the historic Pebble Beach Resorts. Dr. Charles Lutz, a dentist from Madera, won the trip with a $5,000 bid. He will compete in December for a charity purse of $100,000 benefiting Children’s Hospital.

The golf tournament was a success thanks to many volunteers and support from the following sponsors:

Valley Wide Beverage and Pepsi also provided beverages on the course.
