Central Valley Costco Wholesale Corp. locations raised $228,342 for Children’s Hospital Central California during its big Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) campaign in May. This total surpassed last year’s numbers by $29,000, setting a new local fundraising record.
“Children’s Hospital has been a savior for many of our employees’ children throughout the years,” said Costco Merced Manager Winnie Kendrix. “The excellent care and the simple fact that the facility is readily accessible made us want to give our all for this year’s campaign.”
Costco employees sold miracle balloon icons to generous members and employees, as well as hosted creative fundraising events like barbecues and enchilada dinners. By the end of the campaign, warehouse walls were covered with thousands of icons.
“Whether it’s been our child or someone else’s child, we want the Hospital to thrive and grow and with successful fundraisers like this one, we can help,” said Kendrix.
Costco is CMN’s top donor to Children’s Hospital.
CMN is a non-profit organization that raises funds for more than 170 children’s hospitals. Donations to CMN fund much-needed medical care, research and education that save and improve the lives of 17 million children each year.
