Board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, Dr. Valeriano Simbre is a pediatric cardiologist at The Willson Heart Center at Children’s Hospital. He joined Children’s in February 2004. Dr. Simbre belongs to the American Medical Association and the American College of Cardiology.
Dr. Simbre has been published in peer-reviewed journals such as “Current Treatment Options in Cardiovascular Medicine,” “Journal of Clinical Oncology” and “Pediatric Research.” His research focused on areas of pediatric cardiology including cardiotoxicity and myocardial injury in children and newborns. Specifically, his areas of interest include cardiotoxicity induced by cancer chemotherapeutic agents and characterization of serum biochemical markers of myocardial injury in neonates. Dr. Simbre has given lectures and presentations on myocardial injury to professional societies.
His professional experience includes having served as an emergency room physician at Paranaque Medical Center in the Philippines.
Dr. Simbre earned his medical degree from Far Eastern University in the Philippines, and was an academic scholar. He completed an internship at Far Eastern University and a residency in pediatrics at Crozer-Chester Medical Center in Upland, Penn. Dr. Simbre did a fellowship in pediatric cardiology at Stanford University and the University of Rochester Medical Center in Rochester, N.Y.
He enjoys spending his free time with his wife and family.
