Board certified in Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition by the American Board of Pediatrics, Dr. Roberto Gugig is involved in research and clinical studies for the Univeristy of California, San Francisco (UCSF), the Romark Institute for Medical Research and Kendle. He has given numerous presentations and has been published in peer-reviewed journals including the Journal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition. Dr. Gugig also gives formal lectures to pediatric residents at the UCSF School of Medicine and San Francisco General Hospital and podiatry students at St. Luke’s Hospital in San Francisco. He is a member of several professional societies including the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition (NASPGN) and the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA). Dr. Gugig is a member of the sub-committee on Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition of the American Academy of Pediatrics, which publishes practice guidelines for general pediatricians.

Dr. Roberto GugigDr. Gugig also provides pediatric services for Children’s Hospital at Kaweah Delta Hospital in Visalia, California and at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Fresno, California. He is fluent in Spanish, English and French. He places high value on family and spends his free time with his wife and their two sons. He is a certified PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) diver and a rock climbing instructor.

Graduating from the Universidad Central de Venezuela (Central University of Venezuela), in Caracas, Venezuela, Dr. Gugig completed pediatric residencies at the Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York and Miami Children’s Hospital. He completed a research fellowship at the University of California, Los Angeles School of Medicine and a clinical fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine.
