Dr. Nadarasa Visveshwara rejoined Children’s Hospital as program director of Newborn Medicine. He brings over 35 years’ experience to our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and has served as medical director of Neonatology at the Hospital. Dr. Visveshwara is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the California Medical Association.
An innovator in pediatric healthcare, Dr. Visveshwara’s breakthroughs in neonatal-perinatal medicine have garnered three U.S. patents. A clinical professor of pediatrics with the University of California, San Francisco, Dr. Visveshwara has been honored with several teaching awards. He has given presentations at national and international forums and his research has been published in peer-reviewed journals including the “Journal of Pediatrics” and the “American Journal of Diseases of Childhood.”
Dr. Visveshwara received his medical degree from the University of Colombo in Sri Lanka. He completed an internship at Queens General Hospital in New York and a pediatric residency at Maimonides Medical Center in New York, where he did a fellowship in neonatology. Dr. Visveshwara completed additional training in neonatology and pediatric cardiology at Brookdale Medical Center in New York. He also completed a fellowship in neonatology at the University of Miami in Florida.
