An expert in anesthesiology, Dr. Margaret van Wyk has expertise in all phases of anesthetic care delivery. Prior to joining Children’s medical team, Dr. van Wyk was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology at Wake Forest University School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, N.C.

A graduate from the University of Pretoria in South Africa, Dr. van Wyk completed her residency in the Department of Anesthesiology at Wake Forest University School of Medicine. Dr. van Wyk did a fellowship in pediatric anesthesiology at Children’s Hospital Boston.

She enjoys spending her free time with her dogs, knitting and experimenting with raw food. She has a special interest in nature preservation. She also speaks Afrikaans and German. Dr. van Wyk has been involved in raising money to help fund medical services for needy areas like Ruanda.
