Board certified by the American Board of Neurology and Psychiatry with subspecialty certification in child neurology, Dr. Malavalli Seetharam joined Children’s Hospital in May 2010. He provides pediatric neurology services in the North
Valley at the Hospital’s Merced Pediatric Subspecialty Center as well as the Modesto Pediatric Subspecialty Center, owned and operated by Specialty Medical Group in affiliation with Children’s.
Prior to joining Children’s, Dr. Seetharam worked in private practice, where he ran an EEG lab and was involved in behavior neurology and neonatal neurology. Dr. Seetharam has more than two decades of experience in pediatric neurology and has also been involved in the treatment of childhood headaches, epilepsy, neurocutaneous syndromes, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and developmental delays.
Dr. Seetharam was a faculty member at Medical College of Virginia and Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Va. As an assistant professor in child neurology and pediatrics at the Medical College of Virginia, Dr. Seetharam was in charge of Neonatal Neurology and was involved in neonatal EEGs, head ultrasounds, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) program and teaching medical students, child and adult neurologist, residents and fellows.
Dr. Seetharam has given lectures on developmental disabilities, neonatal seizures, hemorrhages, subdural empyemas and headaches, and has published in “Drug Safety.” He is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, the American Epilepsy Society and the American Headache Society. Dr. Seetharam received his medical degree from Mysore University in Mysore, India. He completed his pediatric residency at Northeastern Ohio University in Youngstown, Ohio. Dr. Seetharam completed a fellowship in child neurology at the Medical College of Virginia.
