As Medical Director of the Cardiac Testing Center, Dr. Kenneth Rouillard has expertise in using echocardiography (including transthoracic , transesophageal, intraoperative, and fetal echocardiography) as well as electrocardiography (including Holter and multi-event EKG monitoring). His primary aim is to perform comprehensive non-invasive diagnostic evaluations on children and fetuses referred with suspected or known, congenital heart disease. The results of these non-invasive studies are essential in making the best decisions about the treatments needed to repair abnormal conditions.
An active member of the Children’s medical staff, Dr. Rouillard has previously served as Chair of the Patient Safety Committee. He has been recognized by the Hospital with the Children’s Hospital Board of Trustees Meritorious Award for his contributions to improving patient safety, and for his involvement in developing the Hospital’s Merced Subspecialty Center.
Dr. Rouillard is board certified in pediatric cardiology and pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics. He is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the University of California, San Francisco. His previous research experience included predictors of postoperative junctional ectopic tachycardia among patients undergoing tetralogy of Fallot repair, and echocardiographic predictors of outcomes following an arterial switch procedure. His professional activities also include membership in several professional societies including the American Heart Association and the American Society of Echocardiography.
A graduate of Stanford University School of Medicine, Dr. Rouillard completed his pediatric residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. While completing his residency, Dr. Rouillard was honored as Outstanding Resident in Pediatric Intensive Care. He completed his fellowship training in pediatric cardiology at the University of California, San Francisco.
Dr. Rouillard is also a proud husband and father of two boys. His personal experience of having both boys as patients at Children’s helps Dr. Rouillard relate well to parents. When he is not at the Hospital, Dr. Rouillard enjoys coaching soccer, watching Disney Channel and sports on television, and helping at his boys’ school.
