Board certified in diagnostic radiology by the American Board of Radiology, Dr. Charles Smith has more than 30 years of radiology and medical imaging experience. He is the medical director of medical imaging  and radiology at Children’s. An active member of Children’s medical staff, Dr. Smith has served in leadership roles at the Hospital including chief of staff, chair of the Radiation Safety Committee, past president of ChildNet and currently serves as a member of the Board of Trustees. He has also served as president of the Central Valley Radiological Society. Dr. Smith is a member of several professional societies including the Radiological Society of North America, the Society for Pediatric Radiology, the Society of Chairmen of Radiology in Children’s Hospitals, and the American College of Radiology.

Graduating from the University of Texas Medical School in San Antonio, Texas, Dr. Smith completed his internship and diagnostic radiology residency at the Los Angeles County-University of Southern California (USC) Medical Center. He completed a fellowship in pediatric radiology and nuclear radiology at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles and Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center.
