Board certified in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics and board certified in anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology, Dr. Catherine Payson joined Children’s Hospital Central California in September 2012 as a pediatric anesthesiologist.

With more than 25 years’ experience, Dr. Payson comes to Children’s after working in private practice for most of her career. Most recently she worked at Ventura Anesthesia Medical Group in Ventura, Calif., and prior to that, at Southern Arizona Anesthesia Services in Tucson, Ariz.

Dr. Payson is a member of several professional societies, including the American Academy of Pediatrics; American Society of Anesthesiologists; California Society of Anesthesiologists; and Society of Pediatric Anesthesia.

Dr. Payson received her medical degree at the University of Arizona, College of Medicine, in Tucson, Ariz. She did a flexible internship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. She completed pediatric residencies at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, and the University of California, San Diego, in San Diego, Calif. She completed her residency in anesthesia at Massachusetts General Hospital, and her fellowship in pediatric anesthesia at Children’s Hospital Boston, both in Boston, Mass.
