Dr. Daniel Ruggles joined Children’s Hospital in August 2009. Dr. Ruggles’ surgical interests include trauma and fractures, limb deformity and scoliosis. He earned a degree in osteopathic medicine at Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens, Ohio. Dr. Ruggles completed an internship at University Hospitals – Richmond Heights Hospital in Richmond Heights, Ohio, and a residency in orthopaedic surgery at Riverside County Regional Medical Center in Moreno Valley, Calif. He completed a fellowship in pediatric orthopaedics at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles.
Dr. Ruggles’ research in orthopaedics has been presented at professional conferences including “The Annual Clinical Assembly of Osteopathic Specialists.” He has traveled extensively serving on medical missions for CURE International and SHARE in the Dominican Republic, Haiti and Kenya. A sports and fitness enthusiast, he ran the San Diego Rock n’ Roll Marathon, participated in the STREND Fitness Challenge, played football while earning his bachelor’s degree at Marietta College and was a certified athletic trainer. He has volunteered with the Special Olympics.
After a year at Children’s, Dr. Ruggles will move to the Dominican Republic to serve as medical director of the CURE Center for Orthopedic Specialties in Santo Domingo.
