David Christensen, MD
Vice President Medical Affairs and Chief Medical Officer
Dr. David Christensen joined Children’s Hospital Central California in February 2010 as vice president, medical affairs and chief medical officer.
Prior to Children’s, Dr. Christensen served as senior vice president of medical affairs and chief medical officer at Children’s Hospital and Medical Center in Omaha, Neb. He brought a wealth of experience and knowledge to Children’s, with over 12 years’ experience in upper management. He has held a variety of medical leadership positions over the years including medical director, Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital and Health Center in Tacoma, Wash., and division chief at Southwest Medical Associates in Nevada.
Board certified in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics, Dr. Christensen has 15 years’ clinical pediatrics experience in rural and tertiary medical centers, children’s hospitals and multispecialty groups. A fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, he has published in professional journals including the “Journal of Molecular and Cellular Cardiology” and “Physiologist.” He is a member of the American College of Physician Executives and the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Dr. Christensen received his medical degree from Creighton University in Omaha, Neb., and completed his internship and residency at Stanford University in Palo Alto, Calif., where he received the Education Award in Adolescent Medicine. He completed his master’s degree in healthcare management at Harvard University in Cambridge, Mass.
