Guilds Fundraising Pledge

The Guilds of Children's Hospital Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Endowment

The Guilds of Children’s Hospital pledged $5 million
to establish the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Endowment. The endowment will provide permanent support for the creation of a fully-accredited Child Advocacy Center. The Center provides comprehensive, child-focused coordination service for law enforcement, child protection professionals, prosecutors, victim advocates, and the mental health and medical communities when intervening in child abuse cases. Services include a medical clinic, the SCAN (Suspected Child Abuse and Neglect) Team and community outreach and education.

From 2004 to 2007, the Guilds dedicated their fundraising efforts toward a new heliport and home for Air George, the hospital’s emergency transport helicopter. The heliport project included: a landing pad, 1,600-square-foot sleeping quarters for the transport team, pilot and medical crew (available 24 hours a day, seven days a week) a helicopter hangar, medical equipment storage area, and fueling provisions.

If you are interested in making a donation toward the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Endowment or supporting a Guild by attending one of their many unique and entertaining events, please call the Guild Office.

Guilds Pink Pig Fund

Along with these large financial commitments, the Guild members make personal donations to fund the little things that make a big difference here at Children’s Hospital through their Pink Pig Fund. The Pink Pig provides support to hospital departments with small requests.

All of the philanthropy work the Guilds do throughout the year has a significant impact on the lives of our patients and their families.  In 2006 and 2007, the Guilds funded over 16 different Pink Pig requests and mid-way through 2008, the Guilds have funded:

  • Five additional baby scales for the NICU
  • New toys for Explorer and Voyager patients
  • Six thermometers for the six new units in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit
  • Improvements in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit waiting room by creating a comfortable environment for our babies’ siblings and families
  • Gift cards to the Peritoneal Dialysis Clinic - to encourage and motivate patients who are on a list for a kidney transplant. These patients need to monitor their blood pressure, weight, special diets and medication, and these gift cards encourage and help them to stay on target.

The Pink Pig fund allows our children and their families to feel more comfortable in what can often be a stressful environment. Thanks to the Guilds Pink Pig Fund, these minor additions make a major difference.
